WHO WE ARE

Masha Tiunova (she/her)

Masha Tiunova is an applied theatre and narrative practitioner, facilitator and consultant. She wrote her MA thesis at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Drag as a Methodology for Staging Personal Stories, which became the foundation for Drag as Resistance.

With a background in strategic planning and narrative practice, she has extensive experience working with charities and community organisations. She currently facilitates creative work with queer refugee and migrant communities in the UK.

FJ (they/she)

FJ is an artist educator and theatre maker working with queer diaspora communities through interdisciplinary creative practice. Over the past four years, they have developed participatory projects exploring identity, belonging and performance. In 2023, they initiated Drag Up! 拽起来, a decolonising performance-making project exploring ESEA queer diaspora identities and experiences.

Masha and FJ met while studying for an MA in Applied Theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Together with Isabella Londoño, they co-founded Tana Theatre Company to create spaces where people can resist the limitations placed on intersectional identities and be seen in the depth, complexity and beauty of our shared humanity. Both FJ and Masha performed as drag kings.
